A long day | Day 80 of 100
'Long' days are necessary but strenuous affairs. Being engaged and 'switched on' for a sustained period takes its toll on our minds and our bodies. Whilst this can be a strain to endure throughout the long day, it does mean that we have exhausted ourselves enough to have earned a solid night's sleep.
Unlike the body though, the mind doesn't stop working when it is exhausted. In fact the opposite happens, our minds will work double-time in an attempt to reconcile everything we have processed through our long day. Keeping the most important parts for a future date, and attempting to 'discard' the rest. For this reason I find the 'winding down' portion of a long day to be the most important. Otherwise, our long day can spill into two or three sleep-deprived days.
